'Make Good Art'

Monday again.

The past week had been quite un-amazing (if there’s ever such a word). But the bad hours of that week were saved by small hours spent with people who mattered. Those small conversations made me realize that there’s more to mistakes than meets the eye. Or something to that effect. And then of course, a good friend sent this video over Facebook. It’s Neil Gaiman addressing the graduates of The University of Arts in Philadelphia, Class of 2012. There’s so much to quote from the commencement speech but what struck me most was his final word to the graduates:

“So be wise, because the world needs more wisdom, and if you cannot be wise, pretend to be someone who is wise, and then just behave like they would… And now go, and make interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes, make glorious and fantastic mistakes. Break rules. Leave the world more interesting for your being here. Make good art.”

Here’s the full video:

You can access a transcript of the speech here.

Let’s go make good art today! :D
